RAISE up Webinar: “Ethical AI: perspectives for the future”

On Monday, December 16, 2024, the first webinar of the RAISE up mentorship program will take place. This event is dedicated to exploring Artificial Intelligence and the ethical considerations associated with its use.

The webinar is promoted by Spoke 5 and supported by PwC Italia and I3P – the Incubator of the Politecnico di Torino.

During the session, speakers Annalisa Barla (Associate Professor, University of Genoa), Gianluca Campus (Director, PwC Italia, Digital Innovation), and Shalini Kurapati (Co-Founder & CEO, Clearbox AI Solutions) will share their experiences and insights on key topics related to AI and ethics.

This talk will delve into the current business landscape and how the innovative platform presented can help companies navigate AI-related regulations. It will examine vulnerabilities associated with using AI tools, with a specific focus on biases, illustrated through practical use cases. A comprehensive overview of the developed guide and conducted analyses will also be provided.

Fundamental Rights at the Core of the AI Act: Finding the Ethical Sweet Spot in AI Governance. This presentation will explore the journey from soft law, based on ethical and voluntary principles, to hard law with binding regulations. It will delve into finding a balance that safeguards fundamental rights while promoting technological innovation. Fundamental rights are central to AI Act compliance but must be considered alongside product safety legislation.

Data-centric AI: A Practical Approach to AI Ethics. This talk will focus on managing biases and ethical impacts through data-driven strategies rather than model-centric approaches. It will present methods for balancing datasets and ensuring that models are robust and compliant, offering a concrete focus on data ethics with a practical approach.
