RAISE at the European Conference on Computer Vision with researchers from the Italian Institute of Technology
From September 29th to October 4th, at the Allianz MiCo congress center in Milan, Ferdinando Cannella, Chiara Bartolozzi, Alessio Del Bue, Alessandra Sciutti, Arash Ajoudani, Daniele Pucci, Lorenzo Natale, and Marco Maggiali researchers at the Italian Institute of Technology will take part in the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV).
The various research units will showcase some of their technologies based on robotics, artificial intelligence and computer vision developed within the RAISE Spokes 1, 2 and 4.
Cannella’s team will present a cutting-edge line of research dedicated to revolutionizing inspection processes in various industries by identifying potential hazards, anomalies, and areas in need of maintenance or restoration.
Del Bue’s team will present a video related to the joint activity of PAVIS, REHAB and FISM (Italian Multiple Sclerosis Foundation) in the AI-MOKA project in which, with the help of goggles able to track the direction of gaze, artificial intelligence models are able to identify the position of observed objects.
Bartolozzi and colleagues will present an interactive demonstrator of a 2D human pose estimation (HPE) system based on event-driven cameras for accurate understanding of human position, posture and movements.
Sciutti’s team will present the iCubHead robot, equipped with a cognitive architecture for autonomous learning, which enables immersive human-robot interaction in an unstructured environment.
Ajoudani and colleagues will present technologies real time tracking technologies that use cameras to detect the posture and movements of people in a three-dimensional space.
Finally, Pucci, Natale and Maggiali will bring two robots, ergoClub and R1, to the exhibition: the former is remote-controlled and equipped with integrated artificial intelligence that is able to monitor workers’ movements and analyze physical stress data; R1, instead, is designed to interact with humans, learning directly from the environment by adapting its movements and behaviors according to different situations.
The European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) is one of the leading biennial research conferences in Computer Vision and Machine Learning, managed by the European Computer Vision Association (ECVA). It is held in even-numbered years and brings together the scientific and industrial communities in these fields. The first event was held in 1990 in Antibes, France, and was subsequently organised throughout Europe.
The program of the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) is available on the conference website.
